This is an immersive, land-based adventure to dive into your mythic nature, your ancestral gifts and your deepest longing. We’ll explore the landscape of our ancient roots by immersing ourselves in a story from an indigenous tradition of Indo-Europe. From the rich and strange perspective of myth you’ll find doorways into new relationship with the land, and your own wild soul.
By “entering the story” in this way you may discover the layers of immense beauty and spiritual wealth that upheld our ancestral cultures. You may encounter the griefs of history that the story carries from an indigenous past to an imperial present day. Or you may find strange threads shining in the trail of the story that seem burningly relevant to your life.
We will be inviting you to take your inner experience onto the land with guided practices to weave yourself into an animate conversation with the wild forces. It is they who may then become your guides, seeking to cook or court you into a deeper version of yourself.
During our time, we will:
-dive deep into the teachings and wisdom of an old story
-carry these teaching out on to the land as we wander in conversation with the animate world
-sit in council to integrate our soulwork into the human world of community and identity.
-work with dreams that have visited us in the night as a part of our conversation with soul and story.
-work with the beauty of hangwork by crafting offerings and personal ceremonies.
-feel the wonder of connection as we sink into the aliveness of the mythic Earth and our deep imagination.
Join us in song and celebration, joy and grief - as we move seamlessly between the physical world of nature and the inner world of soul and myth. We might even discover the place where the two meet, and the boundaries disappear.
This program draws on our Mythology Club style of inquiry, as taught at Martín Prechtel’s school, Bolad’s Kitchen. It also draws on Bill Plotkin’s approaches to soulwork as practiced at the Animas Valley Institute.
When: June 26-28, 2026
Where: Remote location on Vancouver Island
Cost: $650 Early Bird. $785 Regular Fee - After May 30th.
To begin remembering our Indigenous belonging on the Earth back to life we must metabolize as individuals the grief of recognition of our lost directions, digest it into a valuable spiritual compost that allows us to learn to stay put without outrunning our strange past, and get small, unarmed, brave, and beautiful.
By trying to feed the Holy in Nature the fruit of beauty from the tree of memory of our Indigenous Souls, grown in the composted failures of our past need to conquer, watered by the tears of cultural grief, we might become ancestors worth descending from and possibly grow a place of hope for a time beyond our own.
― Martin Prechtel, The Unlikely Peace at Cuchumaquic: The Parelled Lives of People as Plants
Your guides, Stephanie MacKay and Jade Sherer, invite you to join them in a brand new experiential, land-based program that has been waiting for eons to be rekindled into Flame.
Out of the word germination comes the word “germ”. The germ is the embryonic life of a seed. The etymology of germ brings us to a deeper understanding of what we are
on the cusp of: “the beginnings of a new organism in an existing one.”
In some indigenous languages, germ, heart, and placenta are all the same word -
the germ is the spiritual heart of all life. These tiny holders of our origins, live inside stories as cultural seeds, in our marrow as ancestral memory, and in the plant seeds themselves.
During out time together, we will ask the cultural seeds of the stories to unfurl, while we also call to the seeds of ancestral memory that lie within us, and within the land, to carry our hearts into wonder.

We aim to create a rich and dynamic gathering, together as a group, in dyads, and alone. Stone overhangs and unique rock families will beckon to you as you will be invited to enact a 24 hour solo mid-way through the program.
Part of each day will be spent in deep exploration of the teachings within carefully selected mythologies, the rest of our time we will dwell in ceremonial time, council, dreamtime, guided visualizations, and more.
