The Secrets of Mythology

Mythologies of old Europe are not mere fables or stories for children—they are vessels of an ancient, intact way of life. These stories carry the voices, values, and spiritual teachings of our ancestors, rooted in a land-based European worldview. Far from being relics of the past, they are living traditions, waiting to be remembered.

This introductory offering is for those of you who feel drawn to mythology—who sense something meaningful stirring in these stories, even if you don’t yet have a language for their deeper meanings. Perhaps you’ve always loved myth, felt moved by it, or noticed how it lingers in your imagination. Something in it calls to you, even if you’re not sure why.

In this gathering, I will share a story from old European myth and begin to open a doorway into a different way of understanding mythology. Together, we will explore what it means to approach these stories not as distant artifacts or psychological maps, but as living presences.

I will speak to how I understand mythology—what it means to say that these stories are alive, that they are hungry, and that they long to be in relationship with us. We will gently question the idea that myths exist only to describe the human psyche, and instead touch into something deeper, more sacred—something that asks for our attention, our listening, and our participation.

Along the way, I will offer simple and accessible suggestions for how you might begin to open yourself to the deeper teachings within these stories, and how to enter into a more reciprocal relationship with them.

This is not about analysis or expertise, but about remembering how to listen.
